There are so many stories I could write about this amazing man!!!!! I met Dame in the Barton Arms when Utd won the treble ! I fell off a table onto him! We hit it off straight away and often bumped into eachother in the pub after that night. We became really close after I returned from a years travelling around New Zealand, spending time at eachothers houses introducing eachother to music. We shared a passion for the outdoors, mountains and nature, not forgetting The Smiths and Bowie. Dame introduced me to the indigo girls and journey, while I introduced him to Bic Runga and sublime. Dame helped me learn the guitar. He was teaching me the tabs to "Sway" by Bic Runga. Dame had stuck loads of pieces of A4 paper together and drew the tabs onto them and posted it through my door in the middle of the night. We also shared a love for captain corelli's mandolin! Our friendship grew over the years and we had some fantastic days and nights out. Crazy Wendy's with Dame, Sami and Gill was such good fun, nights in the Mal Maison hotel bar, numerous nights in the white horse and country walks. I'm privileged to have spent a day at Entwistle reservoir last year with Dame and my little boy, Adam, Dame's favourite place that he'd spoken about for years. Dame always told me "you're responsible for your own happiness" and he helped me through a difficult time without even realising he was helping. He had an amazing ability to simplify the most complex of problems or worries and was so incredibly loyal and honest. To see him fight this horrific disease with strength, positivity and dignity from beginning to the end has completely overwhelmed me. His zest for life and mischievous antics will never leave me. I absolutely love the bones of this amazing man and he will remain in my heart forever. If the world had more Damien Cleare's, the world would be a more peaceful, happy place. Thank you Dame, for blessing me with your friendship and for the many happy, fun memories I will cherish forever. Rest In Peace my amazing friend. Love you always xxxxx
